They Want to Make Work Human Again

- "Boredom" is the word that many workers use when describing their jobs. The Swedish automakers, Volvo and Saab, facing high absenteeism and enormous turn-over rates, are experimenting with abolishing assembly lines and setting up small work teams with responsiblility for a whole engine or the total car. Since so many workers seem to be unhappy in this age of increasing technology, job enrichment could be one of the solutions to this problem of discontent.
