Rhesus Play
- 1977 ----- color ----- 24 min ----- 16mm
- Filmed on an island near Puerto Rico, the play habits of Rhesus monkeys begin in infancy as the young monkeys start to develop locomotor skills, which are improved through frequent repetition of actions. As the animals grow they are seen to occasionally play with objects such as rocks, plants or smaller animals, but most play takes the form of mock-aggression with chasing and play-fighting the most common. Various forms of rhesus play are presented and analogies are drawn between the play activities and the actions/reactions necessary in adult life.
