Depicts the events of the March Revolution documenting the difficulties of the moderate Lvov and Kerensky regimes in their efforts to preserve the budding democracy. Unable to withdraw from the war because of allied pressure and beset by internal threats from the right and the left, the provisional government is finally toppled by the Bolsheviks. With Lenin as leader, Russia made a separate peace with Germany and the eastern front was no more. The first of the doomed dynasties had collapsed.
