Protist Behavior
- 1975 ----- color ----- 11 min ----- 16mm
- The origins of animal behavior are shown at the protistan level. Each protist examined shows its own unique form of behavioral adaptation: paramecium exhibits stereotyped avoidance and aggregation responses; euglena moves along a light beam into areas of optimal light intensity; didinium shows its foraging behavior as it captures and engulfs paramecia; suctorians spread their deadly tentacles awaiting the touch of a ciliate which is impaled and its cell content drawn out.
