Problem, The

• An animated puppet film that centers on the question of what color the trash box in a large organization should be painted. As this decision is passed upward through employees, officers and finally the chairman of the board, it grows larger and more important, illustrating the tendency of bureaucracies to magnify such details. Though done with great good humor, The Problem, nevertheless, raises serious and pointed questions about the nature of responsibility and the dehumanizing effect of bureaucratic organizations.
