Abyss, The (Afgrunden)*
- 1908 ----- b & w ----- 32 min ----- 16mm
- Carl Dreyer's first film deals with the relationships of a woman torn between an accepted way of life and a love which society condemns. (One of the few, if not the only, prints of this film in the country. The technical quality of the print leaves much to be desired, however as an example of very early narrative filmmaking it remains historically important.) (NOTE: Film should be projected at silent speed, ie. 18 frames/second.) (Restricted to use at the Educational Media Collection only)
