Pilgrimage to a Hindu Temple
- 1969 ----- color ----- 13 min ----- 16mm
- (Image India series) Opens with a middle-aged Tengalai Sri-Vaisnava brahmin getting off the bus in the village of Sriperumbudur, birthplace of the 12th century Hindu saint, Ramanuja. The pilgrim then moves to the temple tank where he bathes and changes into garb appropriate for worship, goes into the temple and circumambulates the precincts, making his way through the shadowy passages and pillared courts to the innermost shrine in the Sanctum sanctorum. Attempts to show areas inside a temple normally inaccessible to non-Hindus and in a way suggestive of how these areas appear to a believing Hindu.
