(Directed by Ingmar Bergman; with Bibi Andersson, Liv Ullmann and Gunnar Bjornstrand) Elizabeth, a renowned stage actress, suffers a nervous breakdown and loses the ability to speak. She is sent to an isolated coastal spot, where she is to be cared for by a nurse-companion, Alma.
