- (Christians, The series, Part 5) While the Jews, the Christians and the Muslims all worship the same God, history would have us believe otherwise. The fact that the people of the book have had to share so many holy places has been one of their chief causes of friction. Some Christians, not content with hunting out Jews and Muslims during the Crusades, turned inward. The Dominicans were responsible for the Inquisition. In the year that Granada fell to Ferdinand and Isabella, Christopher Columbus set sail across the Atlantic in search of a shorter route to Asia. Instead of finding Muslims, though, he was to find a whole new world of infidels ripe for Christian conversion.
