The number and diversity of American wildlife species has consistently declined as man has usurped more and more space on the continent. Lack of foresight has put many animals like the brown pelican and the timber wolf on the endangered species list while other birds and mammals have been declared extinct. Interviews with scientists and zoologists reveal some of the things that are being done to help endangered animals make a "comeback."
