- For the past quarter of a century, North Korea has been off-limits to most Western observers. French journalist Andre Fontaine and French filmmaker Jacques Renoir were allowed to spend two weeks filming in North Korea. Although they were not given free access to every aspect of North Korean society, the places and events that the North Koreans chose to show their visitors are most revealing.
