- (Historical Collection) Live theatre performance of the most famous section of one of the most popular Kabuki plays, Omi Genji Senjin Yakata, by Chikamatsu. Moritsuna and Takasuna fight for their own rights despite the fact that they are brothers. Koshiro, Takatsuna's son, becomes a prisoner of war and is taken to Moritsuna's camp. Moritsuna, worried that this news will confuse Takatsuna, asks their mother to intimidate Koshiro into compliance to commit suicide. But Koshiro refuses to do so unless he is allowed to see his own mother once before he dies. His grandmother agrees. All of a sudden, the news that Takatsuna has been killed, is reported. Tokimasa, Moritsuna's lord, brings to the camp a container with the head of Takatsuna for Moritsuna to identify. Moritsuna, as soon as he sees the head, realizes that it is not the head of his brother.. Sympathizing with the young boy, Koshiro, who has already committed suicide as requested, Moritsuna tries to deceive his lord, Tokimasa, by agreeing that it is the head of his brother. Soon the truth is discovered and Moritsuna attempts suicide to expiate his guilt to his lord. Wada Yohei, the enemy general, stops him from doing so. Before long both armies are reconciled.
