Mission to Yenan
- 1973 ----- color ----- 32 min ----- 16mm
- Ray Luden was a member of the U. S. Army Observer Group Station in Yenan, China (1944--1945), wartime headquarters for the Chinese Communists. They saw very early that Chiang Kai-shek's decadent rule would end in his defeat and recommended at the close of World War II that the United States adopt a more open-ended policy toward the Communists. The advice was not heeded and when their predictions about Chang came true, they were vilified during the McCarthy era. They feel history has vindicated their views but continue to raise hard questions as to whether a different policy might have meant an avoidance of the Korean and Vietnam wars.
