Maze, The
- 1971 ----- color ----- 31 min ----- 16mm/dvd
- Documents the life of William Kurelek, a self-taught artist who was, for a time, a mental patient preoccupied with feelings of depression and helplessness. His tortured ruminations are vividly depicted in paintings that afford a unique view of the inner mind. In The Maze, a large painting of a skull divided into compartments illustrating salient events in the artist's personal life, we see the possible genesis of Kurelek's psychiatric problems. (dvd Restricted to use on the University of Washington campuses)
- Topics: (Artists, Mental Illness, Psychology: Clinical/Counseling)
