- (Ascent of Man, The series, Part 7) Physics--Newton and Einstein occupy center stage in the evolution of physics. Inside his rooms at Trinity College, Cambridge, Newton's experiments with light refraction are recreated by Dr. Jacob Bronowski. Considers Newton's Theory of Universal Gravitation and his invention of fluxions (calculus). The revolution that ensued when Einstein's Theory of Relativity upset Newton's elegant description of the universe is explored. In Berne to discuss the physicist's contributions, Bronowski says: "In a lifetime, Einstein joined light to time and time to space; energy to matter, and matter to space and space to gravitation."
