- A comprehensive look at the influence of the Islamic world, from its inception in the 7th century A. D. to the present, upon the realm of the sciences. The influence of the Islamic religion permeates the scientific studies of Moslem scholars. Moslem interest in all areas of mathematics, especially geometry, is based on the Islamic doctrine of unity--God is one. One of the most important accomplishments of the Islamic scholars was the preservation and embellishment of the knowledge of past civilizations during the Dark Ages.
