Invisible Barrier, The
- 1979 ----- color ----- 18 min ----- 16mm
- According to many people with a physical disability, the biggest barrier they face is the attitudes of other people by which they are stereotyped as "disabled." Examines two reasons for the barrier--the ways in which physically disabled people have been stereotyped in literature and the media; and the discomfort experienced when disabled and non-disabled people meet for the first time. Shows three physically disabled people who work successfully in hospitals. In their own words they describe how they are accepted by co-workers and patients and how their disability does not prevent them from doing a good job.
