Initiation of Convection, The
- (nd) ----- color ----- 18 min ----- 16mm
- Time-lapse sequences of GOES visible and infrared imagery are used to observe how air motions generated by differential heating affect the initiation and distribution of convective clouds. Phenomenon shown include: differential heating and cooling, lake breeze, land breeze/sea breeze, fog dissipation and fair weather cumulus, valley/ridge circulations, cloud streets and cloud lines, merging convective cloud lines, merging cloud clusters and thunderstorm outflow boundaries.
