In Search of a Spanish Democracy

- Documents the events from the burial of Franco on November 23, 1975, showing the process of democratization including the proclamation of Juan Carlos as king, the Cortes voting itself out of office and the legalization of all political parties including the Communist. Economic problems are examined. The role of the church in transition is described. The issue of cultural and linguistic autonomy vs. national policy is brought into focus through footage of the Basque province. Other subjects covered are Spanish foreign policy, United States military presence and the pro-Arab oil policy.
