• Dr. Gordon H. Bower, Stanford University, presents a graphic demonstration of the processes of memory, memory aids and the cognitive distortions created while reconstructing memories. Shows how real learning involves the transfer of information from short-term to long-term memory. Discusses and illustrates several learning methods including rote repetition and the invention of meaningful associations. A rumor chain shows how, as a story is told and retold, it becomes distorted largely according to the dictates of certain common stereotypes.
