A Propos de Nice (Silent)
- 1924 ----- b & w ----- 21 min ----- 16mm
- Directed by Jean Vigo. Presents a study in "contrasts" between the idlers sprawled in the sun in the wealthier section of Nice and the poor sections of the old town. The theme emerges from Vigo's portrayal of a carnival depicted as a kind of dance of death. The film, a lyrical, violent and often subversive social polemic, is full of black humor and biting sarcasm. A classic experimental film. (NOTE: Film should be projected at silent speed, ie. 18 frames/second.)
