Provides an overview of the functions of the brain including motor control, memory and sensory perceptions. Segments include: doctors performing a craniotomy, a discussion of the different functions of the right and left cranial hemispheres highlighted with scenes of a young man with a "split brain," an interview with a woman who had an electric stimulator implanted in her back which can control chronic pain at her transistorized radio commands and a doctor who is using computers in an effort to control blindness. Finally, a variety of brain malfunctions are discussed, along with the drugs, techniques and equipment currently being used for diagnosis and treatment.
