- (Ascent of Man, The series, Part 2) Agriculture--Man domesticates plant and animal life. "The largest single step in the ascent of man," says Dr. Jacob Bronowski, "is the change from nomad to village agriculture." With the neolithic cultivators come the nomads and the roots of warfare. Tracing the beginnings of agriculture, Dr. Bronowski follows Iran's Bakhtiari tribe which migrates, as it did 10,000 years ago, from the mountains to summer pastures. The next stop is Jericho, where "wheat and water came together and, in that sense, man began civilization." Includes the evolution of the wheel and the plow and a look at the recreated war games of the Mongol dynasty of Genghis Khan.
