Grand Jury: An Institution under Fire

Explores the relationship of the grand jury to the rest of the criminal justice system by following a case from arrest through indictment. Traces the historical development of the grand jury as a tool of the Crown in 12th century England through its use by the colonists in America and its inclusion in the U. S. Constitution. Demonstrates how the investigatory powers of the grand jury can be used to gather information on political dissidents, union organizers, minority groups and others.
