Fusion: The Energy Promise
- 1976 ----- color ----- 57 min ----- 16mm
- (Nova series) There are two kinds of nuclear reactions that produce energy: the fission of heavy nuclei into lighter fragments and fusion, the building up of heavier nuclei from very light nuclei. Fusion has many advantages as an energy source, since it is more efficient and produces no atomic wastes but, unfortunately, it is not yet economically viable. Making use of animation and newsreel footage and visiting laboratories in Britain, the United States and the Soviet Union, NOVA shows the international race for fusion.
