Frank Stella and Larry Poons: The New Abstractionists
- 1966 ----- b & w ----- 29 min ----- 16mm
- Frank Stella and Larry Poons, two so-called new abstractionists, are shown in their studios painting and discussing their work. These artists have instituted an innovation by exploiting repetition, emptiness and monotony to produce their abstract works. Mr. Stella recently renounced his famous striped paintings and now produces huge geometric polygons. He explains his techniques for these, tracing their development from the original graph-paper planning to the final form. Larry Poons is more purely a painter. His work is currently a counterpoint of dots on canvas.
