- 1966 ----- color ----- 54 min ----- 16mm
- The traditional life followed by the Polynesians of American Samoa is being altered and challenged by its governing authority, the United States. American introduced educational television may help children to learn English rapidly, but a potential conflict exists between the Western goals of education which stress independent thinking and the cultural values of Samoa which emphasize obedience to the family and respect for authority. Additionally, the Americans have introduced a value system which stresses the "need" to accumulate money to a people who, in the past, have lived with the emphasis upon mutual instead of personal gain.
