This course will offer two things: 1) information about the idea of 'diversity', its histories and contemporary implications from various perspectives; and, 2) places and opportunities for individual students to engage with this information in ways that are meaningful to their lives.

The full group of participants will meet twice a week for faculty lectures given by 22 distinguished UW faculty members and administrators (including President Emmert and Vice President Barcelo).

In addition, there will be once a week graduate TA sections of 25 students and once a week peer facilitated section of 12-13 students.

This class has been designed by a group of twenty students under a grant from the UW Diversity Initiative.
