Classroom Support Services provides comprehensive media support and services to support in-classroom instruction. No-charge teaching equipment is provided by CSS for regularly scheduled 100-499 level courses meeting in general-use classrooms and, when equipment is available, for 100-499 level courses meeting in departmental teaching spaces. In addition, CSS generally provides no-charge teaching equipment to regularly scheduled, classroom based graduate level courses.

The majority of general-use classrooms at the University of Washington come equipped with basic audio-visual equipment consisting of an overhead projector, projection screen, a TV and a VCR. Many have more advanced equipment including data and video projectors; voice amplification and program audio systems; DVD players, audio cassette recorders/players and audio CD players. Over 80 general use classrooms are equipped with permanently installed PC workstations in the instructor's podium. Approximately 75% of general-use classrooms have an active Ethernet connection and can support portable computing and data projection equipment. A comprehensive listing of CSS supported equipment in general-use classrooms is available at the Classroom Planning & Schematics page.

Equipment to support self-sustaining courses including executive and continuing education programs, graduate thesis and dissertation defenses, departmental meetings, workshops and conferences is available for a modest daily rental fee. For information on CSS's wide range of portable equipment available for use in classrooms or for rent, definition of fee categories, rental rates, labor rates, late fees, cancellation fees and delivery fees, please go to our CSS Fees page.
